My first real experience behind the camera was in 1998. I was fortunate to experience a trip to Kenya for a Photo Safari. At the time, I was an Investment Advisor with Edward Jones Investments. My knowledge of cameras was next to nil. Our guide while staying at Governor's Camp was phenomenal. He was well versed in photography...as you can imagine! He took the time to teach me the basic foundation for exposure, depth of field and why I would use various film speeds. It all started to make sense. This was the 3rd and last leg of my Photo Safari journey. I'd been in *Auto Mode the entire trip, hoping that I would have well exposed images once the film was developed. With my new found knowledge, I turned the camera to Manual Mode and thought through my setup. Whoa, upon developing the images, there was a marked difference in the images. Not all of the images were good, but the ones where I got it right...were phenomenal. As my trip was coming to end, I realized how much fun I was having. Secretly, I was having visions of what a photographer's life must be like.  I was hooked!

20 years later, here I am. Living my dream. I began the process in 2017 of turning my passion of photography into my full time career.
